Many of you have asked how to proceed in order to get a HANA license and how to put it in place. With this blog I'll like to share some steps, notes and links that will help you with this topic.
Installation of HANA server provides a 90 days trial period. After this 90 days trial period HANA license will expire and usage of HANA and B1H will be blocked if you haven't imported a permanent HANA license.
This blog explains how to request a HANA permanent license for B1H installations from SAP.
In order to avoid the unnecessary B1H system unavailability cause by license expiration, please follow the instruction below to request and install HANA permanent license key from SAP.
Step 1: Refresh your current Hardware Key (optional)
If your system is a preconfigured system having HANA already preinstalled please follow the steps here bellow to refresh your Hardware Key:
- stop the HANA DB instance
- remove line 'id=<a number>' in /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/custom/config/nameserver.ini (/usr/sap should be replaced with your specific HANA installation path if you changed it during installation)
- execute 'hdbnsutil -convertTopology'
- start the HANA DB instance
